Understanding Implant Size, Placement & Profile in Breast Augmentation
Recently, Kylie Jenner made headlines by sharing details of her breast implants on TikTok — revealing she has 445cc, moderate profile, half under the muscle implants.
For many people considering breast augmentation, this sparked curiosity and even confusion:
👉 What does 445cc look like?
👉 What does “moderate profile” mean?
👉 And what exactly is “half under the muscle”?
At The Clinic, I’ve had a noticeable increase in patient enquiries around these exact questions. So let’s break it down — and help you understand what these terms mean and how they apply to your own body and goals.
What Does “Half Under the Muscle” Mean?
This refers to what’s known as the dual plane technique — the same approach Kylie reportedly had.
In this technique:
- The top part of the implant sits under the pectoral muscle
- The lower part rests directly under the breast tissue
At The Clinic, dual plane is our most commonly used method. It combines the natural look of submuscular placement with the shaping benefits of subglandular placement.
Key benefits include:
- Reduced risk of complications like capsular contracture
- Smoother, more natural-looking upper pole
- Better shape in patients with mild sagging
What Are the Different Implant Placement Options?
There are two main placement planes for breast implants:
- Subglandular (Above the Muscle)
- Implant is placed behind the breast tissue but in front of the muscle
- Offers a quicker recovery and more defined cleavage
- May show rippling in patients with thin skin
- Dual Plane (Half Under the Muscle)
- Our preferred method at The Clinic
- Offers natural results with better long-term support
- Less visible implant edges in thin patients
Each technique has its pros and cons. The right one for you will depend on your body type, tissue characteristics, and aesthetic goals..
How Do I Know If the Dual Plane Technique Is Right for Me?
The dual plane approach is often ideal if:
- You have thin breast tissue
- You desire upper pole volume without visible edges
- You’re looking for a natural, subtle result
During your consultation, I’ll assess your tissue thickness, skin elasticity, and chest shape to recommend the best placement—whether that’s dual plane, fully under the muscle, or over the muscle.

How Is Breast Implant Size Chosen?
Implant sizing is not a one-size-fits-all process—or simply about choosing a cup size.
We consider multiple factors, including:
- Your chest width and frame
- Amount of existing breast tissue
- Your lifestyle and activity level
- Your desired aesthetic outcome
At your consultation, we’ll guide you through a comprehensive sizing session so you’ll feel confident and well-informed about what to expect.
What Does 445cc Actually Look Like?
Implants are measured in volume (cc = cubic centimetres), not bra cup sizes.
While Kylie Jenner’s 445cc implants are often seen as “large,” the reality is:
The same implant will look different on every body. Here’s a rough guide to how volume translates visually:
- 350–400cc+: Fuller, more dramatic appearance
- 200–250cc: Subtle, natural enhancement
- 275–325cc: Noticeable increase, still natural-looking
Keep in mind:
The same volume will look different on every body. A 300cc implant will appear much larger on a petite frame than on someone with broader shoulders or a wider chest.
What Does “Moderate Profile” Mean?
“Profile” refers to how far the implant projects outward from your chest wall.
Kylie’s moderate profile implants are a middle ground — providing a natural shape with gentle projection, without looking overly round or prominent.
There are generally three main profile types:
- Low Profile – wide base, flatter projection
- Moderate Profile – balanced shape and projection
- High Profile – narrower base, more forward projection
The best profile for you depends on your chest width, skin quality, and desired result.
Will I Look Like Kylie Jenner if I Get the Same Implants?
Not exactly.
Kylie’s results are based on her individual anatomy, skin tone, chest shape, and implant position — all of which contribute to her final appearance.
Choosing the same cc or profile does not guarantee the same look. That’s why we personalise every detail during your consultation, including:
- Lifestyle and future plans (e.g. children, fitness)
- Your goals
- Your body proportions
- Your existing breast tissue
How to Choose the Right Implant for You
At The Clinic, I guide each patient through a collaborative process to select:
✅ The right volume (cc)
✅ The ideal profile for your chest and aesthetic
✅ The most suitable implant placement (over, under, or dual plane)
Your goals might be soft and subtle, or more glamorous — either way, we’ll work together to achieve a natural, confident result that complements your body. Breast augmentation is not just about increasing size—it’s about harmony, balance, and confidence.
At The Clinic, I take the time to understand your goals and guide you through the decision-making process with care and expertise.

Kylie Jenner’s 445cc dual plane implants with moderate profile may be trending right now, but your decision should be based on you — your anatomy, your goals, and your comfort.
