A natural look requires skill and precision.

Precise and skilful placement of an individualised dose of muscle relaxant will help you achieve a subtle and natural looking correction for wrinkles and frown lines.

Frowning is an involuntary spasm of the facial muscles. You don’t consciously choose to crease your face and your unique muscles movement is in your DNA. Over time, this constant creasing of the facial muscles wear down cells including collagen, which is responsible for the volume in youthful looking skin. The constant movement of your facial muscles, with squinting and frowning, impairs new cell development sometimes resulting in a permanent crease or wrinkle.

A minute amount of a muscle relaxant is injected into the contracting facial muscle which temporarily inhibits it from contracting.  The result is a more relaxed and smoother facial appearance. The muscle relaxant agent that is used at The Clinic Plastic Surgery is safe and TGA approved for use in treating muscle spasm conditions. It is not only used in cosmetic medicine, but also in other areas of medicine throughout the world.

FAQ’s

We understand you may have initial questions regarding your procedure. Let us try to answer some now.

HOW LONG WILL MY ANTI-WRINKLE TREATMENT LAST?

Manufacturers of the muscle relaxant indicate that the effect should last about 20 weeks. However, there are a few factors that may influence this timeline. Some treatment areas metabolise the product more quickly than others, and biological metabolic factors or health conditions may reduce the time of effectiveness of the anti-wrinkle solution.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

As the effect of an anti-wrinkle treatment is temporary, for ongoing effect, most clients repeat their procedure every 4 months.

ARE ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS HARMFUL?

Possible side effects of anti-wrinkle injections may include drooping of the eyelids, bruising, headache, face pain, redness, swelling at the injection site, bruising, skin tightness, muscle weakness, numbness or a feeling of pins and needles and nausea.  However, these side effects are usually temporary and restricted to the area that was initially treated.

WILL MY LINES DISAPPEAR AFTER THE ANTI-WRINKLE TREATMENT

Certain lines will disappear and some will only soften.  Regular treatments of Anti-Wrinkle injections actively prevent the formation of static wrinkles (the deeper lines that are present when your face is not moving) and help to soften lines and reduce the severity of visible wrinkles. This decreased movement of the muscle creates less stress on the skin, helping to maintain a fresh, youthful and rejuvenated appearance.  Making static lines disappear is a slightly more involved process and requires other additional modalities to treat.  Your friendly consultant will advise you the best way to move forward.

HOW MUCH WILL AN ANTI-WRINKLE TREATMENT COST?

Your treatment dose is individual and it is important that you are given a dose that will have the effect that you desire and the longevity that is expected from the treatment. At your initial assessment, your clinician will determine the dose and give you a firm quote for all costs associated with your treatment.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS AND DERMAL FILLERS?

Anti-wrinkle injections work by relaxing the targeted muscles that are apparent when making an expression like frowning or squinting. Regular Anti-Wrinkle treatments soften the appearance of lines and wrinkles in the treated area.

Dermal fillers are designed to fill wrinkles, restore volume and enhance hydration. They are injected into different layers of the skin to address the loss of volume and to lift and create facial contours. At the time of consultation, your practitioner will advise you on which treatment best addresses your individual concerns.
