The CO2 fractional laser is beneficial for facial skin rejuvenation and scar revision. For facial rejuvenation with CO2 fractional laser we treat the entire face in order to improve the appearance of your fine lines, wrinkles, skin tone, skin colour, and texture. As the collagen remodelling occurs over a 3 month period after CO2 fractional laser treatment, skin becomes firmer, with the dermis becoming thicker and better able to support the capillary network. The stronger and more healthy dermis reduces the appearance of red blotchy and discoloured skin.
Yes. The CO2 Fractional Smart Laser is an excellent tool for the treatment of acne scarring, post-surgery scars and other healing or healed scars. Our experienced Laser Nurses can help you with a scar revision protocol directing your treatment program towards the type of scars you have. Multiple treatments are often required over several months for scar revision programs.
The CO2 Fractional Smart Laser is suitable for most skin colours from very light skin to medium olive skin, however, laser treatments are not suitable for patients with melasma or hormonally induced hyperpigmentation. The heat generated during the treatment can induce a post inflammatory hyperpigmentation making it unsuitable for treatment for these patients.
Finer, smoother and more refined skin can be visible after about 2 weeks post treatment. Collagen remodelling takes place over 3 months post treatment revealing firmer, smoother and refined skin with more even skin tone and less visible lines.
After applying topical anaesthetic prior to the treatment most patients describe feeling little to no pain during the procedure. On completion of the treatment you will feel like you have experienced a mild sun burn for about one to two hours. Over the following week of recovery your skin exfoliates, heals and new collagen forms in the deeper layers of the skin. Some patients experience a slight itching on the surface of the skin during this healing period.
