When used well, dermal fillers can produce a fresher, lifted, contoured and more youthful look to your face.

One of the first signs of ageing is the loss of volume in our face, which can make us look tired, drawn and sunken. This is caused by the body’s decreased ability to produce collagen and elastin, as well as, the loss of our facial fat.

As we age, our bodies begin to reduce the production of these essential substances and one of the most noticeable and transformative consequences of ageing is the loss of facial volume.

In the cheek area, for example, age-related volume loss is due in part to the absorption of fat and bone, which together provide the skin with some necessary scaffolding. When the volume is diminished, the skin begins to sag and droop. In order to counteract falling skin, structure must be reintroduced. This is where volume restoration treatments come in and

Dermal fillers are effective in naturally re-balancing or enhancing facial features due to the loss of facial volume.

The most popular type of temporary dermal filler contains small volumes of hyaluronic acid, made from a natural sugar.  Your own skin contains high levels of hyaluronic acid so it is readily accepted into your skin and quickly combines with your own reserves of hyaluronic acid creating a subtle replacement of the lost volume.  Dermal fillers are an affordable way to replicate the function of this naturally occurring substance and can restore fullness and volume in numerous facial areas.

The subtle restoration of volume loss requires the skill of an extremely accomplished practitioner.  Our practitioners have a natural eye for the facial aesthetic, along with the skill in understanding the choice of product as well as the placement of this restorative filler.

The goal for dermal filler injections is to help restore and balance your own features, only replacing and crafting volume to enhance rather than distort facial features.  This restoration can be applied in almost all areas of the face and neck, including the cheeks, temples, lips, jawline, around the mouth area.  The choice of product and the placement will determine the amount of strengthening, volumising , lifting and firming of your chosen facial features.

FAQ’s

We understand you may have initial questions regarding your procedure. Let us try to answer some now.

HOW LONG WILL MY DERMAL FILLER LAST?

Your final result from your dermal filler treatment will emerge 2 – 4 weeks after the procedure. Depending on the area injected and the type of filler used, this can then last anywhere from 6 – 18 months or in some cases several years.

ARE DERMAL FILLERS PAINFUL?

Most dermal fillers contain local anaesthetic which minimises pain levels.  There may be areas of the face that are more sensitive than others and your practitioner will discuss pain management prior to commencement of treatment to help you with strategies to minimise discomfort.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DERMAL FILLERS AND ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS?

Anti-wrinkle injections work by relaxing the targeted muscles that are apparent when making an expression like frowning or squinting.  Regular anti-wrinkle treatments soften the appearance of lines and wrinkles in the treated area.

Dermal fillers are designed to fill wrinkles, restore volume and enhance hydration. They are injected into different layers of the skin to address the loss of volume and to lift and create facial contours. At the time of consultation, your practitioner will advise you on which treatment best addresses your individual concerns.

HOW MUCH DERMAL FILLER DO I NEED?

The amount of product recommended to achieve the desired effect is dependent on factors like your age and your natural deficits. Lip reshaping and volumising is usually administered in syringes of between 0.5-1ml in one treatment session.  For a subtle correction to cheeks, under the eyes, chin and jaw line you could expect to have between 1-4 mls of dermal filler in a treatment session.  Treating significant volume loss with dermal fillers may be cost prohibitive and our experienced practitioners may direct you to more sustainable and affordable options like Collagen Stimulating Injections or Thread Lifting.
